Hi and welcome to the New Process Letter!
This is a really short and focused way to share with you my key learnings of the month and to inspire you to rethink processes.
So December, let’s do this. 🚀
How BPM can prevent burnout ❌
In the last episode of the New Process Podcast,
Eugene (Yevgen) Bogodistov
and I talked about the important topic of burnout. BPM can have a significant impact on preventing it. ☝️
Here’s what I learned:
Energy as a key resource: Psychological energy must be treated as a vital resource in process management. Neglecting it can lead to burnout and reduced productivity.
Early detection of psychological strain: Identifying stress at the earliest possible stage is crucial. This can be achieved through practical tools (e.g. colour-coded systems or the “elevator” method) and data-driven approaches, such as smart watches that track stress indicators like heart rate during specific activities. 💡
Strategic action for sustainable processes: Acknowledging challenges and taking decisive, actionable steps – however imperfect – promotes sustainable operations and a healthier, more resilient workforce.
New Process Learning: To prevent burnout, we need to listen to people’s energy levels as a resource – early in the process design phase, but also in the feedback phase, of course, to be able to directly address the thoughts and feelings that arise during the process. Employees feel that they are not only being listened to, but that their stress levels are being taken seriously. 🤔

So, what’s next?
As the first fixed date for next year, you can attend the New Process Live Session with Yevgen and his colleague and co-author Prof. Dr.
Jürgen Moormann
, where they will answer your specific questions on how BPM can help prevent burnout.
When? 23rd January – 11am CET
Where? Register for free here: https://pro.newprocesslab.com/c/events/burnout
What? You will get more information on the topic and also have the opportunity to discuss specific cases.
More than 100 people from the New Process community have completed the BPM Topics 2025 survey – how cool is that? 🤩
We will share the results with all of you on January 8th.
But most importantly: Thank you all for being part of the New Process Community in 2024 – for all the discussion, sharing, brainstorming, and overall helping to get more people excited about process! 🙏
Have a good start to the New Year. 🚀
Thanks for reading!
