What I’ve learned in November to rethink processes

Hi and welcome to the New Process Letter!

This is a really short and focused way to share with you my key learnings of the month and to inspire you to rethink processes.

So November, let’s do this. 🚀

BPM meets Psychology 🧠

Leona H.

shared her psychological insights on how we can use the knowledge of the human mind to get people really excited about processes.

Here’s what I learned:

Human beings are structured simple: People strive to fulfill 4 basic human needs (Control, Joy, Self-enhancement, Attachment). If we could satisfy at least one of these needs with our processes, we would not only increase the acceptance of processes, but also the real enjoyment of them.
Ask about emotions during the process: You should ask the question “How does this process make you feel?” at EVERY stage. And it starts with you, self-reflection is key.
Make the process addictive: The aim should be to create positive feelings (dopamine release) within processes. Leona compares this to the dopamine we get from eating burgers. 🍔

Curious? If you want to learn more, check out episode 57 of the New Process Podcast with Leona Holzbecher.

And for the spontaneous among you: There is a free Live Session with Leona TODAY where she can answer your specific questions on this topic.

The Pizza Game 3.0 is out now! 🍕

Related to Leona’s learning: what is also a good way to release dopamine? Right, with pizza! The Pizza Game 3.0 has finally been launched!

Now you can playfully get people excited about processes – with Luigi’s Process Experience. 🧑🍳

Gamification is one of the easiest ways to get people to really experience seemingly complicated things like processes. And getting people to really understand the benefits of processes is a real game changer! 🙌

This is where the pizza game comes in:

Learn the process: Players discover how easy it is to understand and implement an unfamiliar process using only a process model.
Improve the process: Over several rounds, players practice optimizing processes and working with other roles.
Having fun with processes: The game shows that process work can be fun and motivates teams for the tasks ahead.

And one of the best parts: With Pizza Game 3.0 you can now play it yourself in your company! – You don’t need an external game master anymore. So start getting your people excited about processes now.

Last day of the 2025 BPM Survey

I’ve created a little survey for us to find out what the relevant BPM topics are for 2025. And by taking part, you can also win a calendar for 2025, which also reminds you of Leona’s approach of always thinking about how this process makes you feel throughout the year.

It only takes a couple of minutes. 🚀

Thank you so much!

Have a great day and thanks for reading!
